I've been getting my comics by mail order since the whole Jason/Laughing Ogre debacle last year and I loved the store I was using, www.heavyink.com. They offered a 20% discount on everything and shipping was only 99 cents. And then I read this article on Robot 6 (a blog hosted by Comic Book Resources) this afternoon:

Are you going to send him a note to let him know how many dollars a month he's losing because he's an arsehole?

It's not like it'll make him apologise, by all accounts, but it might be good.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to send an email. From what I've been reading, a lot of customers are doing the same thing and many creators have asked fans not to buy their books from this guy. I don't know if he can be fired since he's the president (corporate structure is a mystery to me) but I imagine his business partners aren't too happy with him right now.

Ugh, what an ass. Yes, he has the right to say those things, but having that right doesn't save him from the consequences. How can anyone say that about any human being. Ugh.

I'm so sorry to hear about your step-sister :( Is there any hope she'll turn around?

Thank you so much. She's actually doing a lot better now. The doctors thought she had internal bleeding from her liver, but it turned out to be from her esophagus. Which still isn't good, but it's not nearly as bad as it could be. She'll probably be out of the hospital in a few days. I was really worried there for a few days. Anyway, thank you again.

So much turmoil in your personal life right now! I'M sure you'll weather it fine, but I know it's draining. I hope Alice is doing all right--I saw in comments below she's doing better?

Damn, what a shame about Heavy Ink. I hate when I find out something I've been using and enjoying is connected with views I can't possibly condone... *hugs*

Alice is doing better, thank you! She got out of the hospital yesterday and is on a strict diet to keep the Gi tract bleeding from coming back. So, she's still not great, but not as bad as we thought for a couple of days.

I am once again adrift without a comic book store! Warren Ellis will come after me if I shop at Heavy Ink again though, so best to stick to my boycott :P

I'm sorry I missed you this weekend! I hope to have my personal life sorted out a bit more next week, so hopefully we can finish up this season of JLU!

Heavy Ink was definitely the best online retailer I've tried, so I'm rather put out about the whole thing. I've looked at a couple others this past week and most make you go through Previews every month and decide what you want 3 months in advance in order to get the discount. Nghh. Still, not giving money to someone with such abhHorent political views is seriously the least I can do. I'll manage ( ... )
