Why I Haven't Been Around Much Lately

Jul 07, 2007 17:57

I haven't felt like myself all week, in between the holiday on Wednesday and the anniversary of my dad's death today. I realized that I have amnesia about what I did during this week last year. I know I went to see Superman Returns at some point and I got drunk while watching the fireworks in the park, but I don't actually remember doing those ( Read more... )

I recently spent two hours scanning in over seventy pages of comics for a massive Trickster/Pied Piper retrospective post! It will be awesome.

That will indeed be awesome. For how can it not be? :-)

I swear, it's so freakily cool to see my favourite characters thrust into the limelight (so to speak...) For the longest time, I was one of few who was pimping them on scans_daily and writing fanfic and squeeing over how cool they were, and now... Everyone is sharing the love :-)!

Also... random *hug* for your circumstances, although I know I'm a complete stranger who has only just friended you after seeing several posts on the 'newsletter' ljs and also reading your hilariously cool Rogue fic. Ummm. Yeah.

Oh my God! You were totally the person who got me interested in Piper in the first place! Um, I'm pretty sure that most of the stuff I have with him in it is what I bought on your recomendation, so I don't know that it'll be anything you haven't seen before. I'm sorry! Maybe you will enjoy my attempting-to-be-hilarious commentary anyway?

Thank you for the hug and thank you for reading my fic! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I hope it's cool if I friend you back.

Really? Awesome. My plans are coming to fruition! *rubs hands together*

Err, I mean, that's nice! :-)

And I was kinda assuming that I would have seen the scans, but it's so cool to see someone else raving about them so... yeah, the commentary is what I look forward to :-).

Friend away! And it was hilariously cool!

Oh, and have you read my Piper and Trickster fic, btw?

{hugs} Poor Caroline... I'd wondered why you were quiet on LJ lately; I just thought maybe you were busy with work/classes. If there's anything I can do, email or give me a call, 'k?

That's really sweet of you to watch out for Danny like that. Bipolarity is a tough disorder to deal with, from what I've heard.

Hehehehe, grammar Nazi ^_^ Wow, it does make one wonder what sort of English majors that Lauren has had contact with! O_O

Yay for Pied Piper bathing suits! Sounds much sexier than "Old Lady Swimsuit." ^_^

(By the way, I'm working on a new project: I want to make emoticons out of Venture Bros characters! I like my little bouncing purple thing, but I need a change.)

Thank you so much. *hugs back* You know what? We should have our Hugh Laurie/knitting night soon!

I'm sorry about your friend who died *more hugs* You let me know if you need anything too, okay?

I feel a bit responsible for him, especially considering how I led him astray in high school. I taught him how to cut school without getting caught!

Wow, it does make one wonder what sort of English majors that Lauren has had contact with!

Even as I was typing that, I remembered that the Virginia Tech shooter was an English major, as was that kid at OU who kidnapped his roommate at gunpoint a few years ago. Maybe we do have a high percentage of crazies.

Yay for Pied Piper bathing suits!

I'm thinking about designing an entire line of swimwear based the Flash villains ; ) Hey, if Disney can do it with their princesses...

By the way, I'm working on a new project: I want to make emoticons out of Venture Bros characters! ( ... )

Indeed! Maybe this coming weekend? A lot of my evenings are filled this week because of helping to cover shifts for Jessica and Regan.

Maybe we do have a high percentage of crazies.
Hmm... scary! There does seem to be an odd magnetic quality between mental abnormalities and the arts, doesn't there?

Heheheh, Flash villain swimwear would rock! :D I got most of the Venture Bros icons made; I just have to tweak some of them and they'll be ready to use. ^_^

Ah, I should have remembered it's been about a year. In my mind it's "a few months before I met her," and since I have, obviously, known you forever...

Lauren was afraid of me at first because I told her that I was an English major

*sigh* Get used to years and years of this. It never really stops. My parents are both teachers and literally have people freeze, afraid to speak to them. I once had someone mock me because I didn't know how to change a carburator: "You're a PhD and you don't know that?" Uh, yeah, not covered in the postmodernist theory classes. My bad. (It would probably have been more useful!)

Trickster and Piper are adorable! Damn, I love the Flash rogues. Why'd DC go and do that to them? I feel awfully hypocritical for being unhappy about it because, duh, they're villains, it's not like they haven't killed plenty of people, I'm sure, but...

*adds a few more hugs to the mix*

"Today, we'll be covering the use of irony in Evelyn Waugh's "bright young things" novels. Tomorrow, how to change a carburator."

Why'd DC go and do that to them? I feel awfully hypocritical for being unhappy about it because, duh, they're villains, it's not like they haven't killed plenty of people, I'm sure, but...I'm plenty unhappy about it! I admit that the Weather Wizard and Mirror Master (and Captain Cold, to a lesser extent) are cold-blooded douchebags, but I don't think Piper and Trickster have ever killed anyone. Heatwave was a sweetie while he was reformed as well. And now Piper and Wally won't ever be able to be friends again and oh it makes me so sad. I think that DC may have forgotten what made the Flash Rogues so appealing in the first place: they were kind of lame and funny and made a lovely contrast with the psychos in Gotham ( ... )

I know! It's so irreversible! I really wish DC would consider the fact that they can never make that have not-happened...I mean, even if they retcon everything it's still there, somehow, you know? In the reader's mind, it can never be erased, and that's terribly sad.
