Universe of Superheroes, the comic book store in Athens, Ohio, was mostly destroyed in a
fire. I didn't go in to Universe very often, but I really appreciated the fact that they had a huge selection of graphic novels and TPBs in-stock at all times instead of just the floppies. However, I was scared of the staff.
That guy in the photos from The Post? The manager, David? Yeah, the last time I saw him, he threw a cordless phone at my head. When he saw me studying feminist theory, he told me he felt sorry for me. And one time, he told my then-boyfriend a lewd story about a woman getting injured while giving a guy a blow-job and then turned to me and said "Wouldn't that be funny if it happened to you?"
Also, the store owes me money. They had me pay up front for something they special-ordered for me and then never actually got. It was less than five bucks, but I still want a refund.
All in all, I don't feel too sorry for them. Can we say karma?
