Veer Zaara

Jun 29, 2005 00:21

I *finally* saw Veer Zaara (starrring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji). I'm still a bit overwhelmed and don't really know what to say except that I LOVED the film! The emotional rollercoaster was almost as bad as Dunnett's Checkmate (though nothing really wins over that book ( Read more... )

Lata's voice grated on me as well. It certainly didn't suit Preity during that scene when she wakes up. I didn't like her voice that much in KKKG as well.

Did you also notice the ashes "missing" the river? LOL!

Oh yes, most of the ashes seemed to fall on the ground and not on the river.

I've pretty much grown used to Lata's voice in the Veer Zaara songs , because I've listened to them often enough, but that first scene with young Preity starting to sing and then Lata's old voice coming from her mouth was really jarring.

I'm used to her too... like Johnny Lever appearances! ;P
I listen to my KKKG soundtrack a lot and to me, sometimes she sound out of tune in the title track.

I have a large embossed VZ lobby card framed at home. It's one's of my pride and joys! :)

Oh, I adore Veer-Zaara. I think it's my ultimate Bollywood experience, really. Saw it 3 times in a movie theater and cried every time. What an emotional rollercoaster, indeed. It's as if someone knew what buttons to push and made the movie especially for me.

Fave scene: when SRK and Preity see each other again after all those years. If the look in SRK's eyes won't make you cry, nothing will.

Also, when she is at the shrine and the rain falls down and he just stands there, looking at her and she runs into his arms in front of her whole family, waaaaaaaahh

I loved SRK's speech in court. Another favourite was his expression when Zaara introduces Raza as her fiancé - all his hopes crushed and his heart broken and then the parting and Do Pal. Waaah!

I need to make a VZ avatar for myself asap!

Yay! I love this movie. A lot! And I guess hearing that you just saw it makes me feel less impatient over Paheli...:)

When I first heard Lata would be singing for Preity I groaned. She should NOT be singing for young people! I did get the soundtrack and while I don't like Lata's voice, the melodies were very pretty. Then I found when I watched the movie, as you were, I got so caught up in the story I didn't mind her voice anymore! This was such a great film.
