Seen the film I have

Star Wars: Episode IIII have mixed feelings about the film, since it had lots of the same faults as the two previous ones, but it also had some very good sequences and got much better in the second half of the movie. It was also surprisingly violent. I still prefer the original ones, but this was ok. 7/10 ( Read more... )

- Anakin turn to the dark side was believable and the film made me feel sympathy for Darth Vader and the tragedy of it all

That's where the film truly succeeded... I was blown away by how well it was handled and how nuanced it all was. Poor Anakin... almost every choice he made was set up to look like the correct one, he really stood no chance. In the end, it was his hatred of himself that kept him locked where he was... the whole thing was so beautifully done. And wasn't the scene with the descending mask just about the most horrifying things ever? He was so trapped by it all...

Yes, the scene with the mask descending and the trapped expression in Anakin's eyes was fantastic. It really conveyed the feeling that he had made really bad choices and was now trapped by the consequences without any chance of escape.

- continuity errors (Leia remembers her mother in ROTJ, but in this film Padmé dies seconds after her birth..)

I'm pretty sure that has to do with a Force-related vision. Because she says she doesn't remember much, just sadness, which is probably exactly what Padme was feeling when she gave birth. Maybe the women had a stronger bond together.

As for corny lines, I thought AotC was MUCH more corny than this one. Actually, I didn't think the lines were corny at all!

I don't buy the Force-memory vision thingy and think this was just an honest mistake.I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about this as well as on the relative corniness of the dialogue :).

The thing is, I thought the Force Memory thing WAS what she meant the first time I saw RotJ, so I was all confused when people asked me for clarifications, that was just how I interpreted that conversation.

I liked Count of Monte Cristo very much, but then I haven't read the novel!

Yeah, as I said, I thought it was a nice film if taken by itself, but it didn't work as an adaptation, since it really didn't have that much in common with the book.
