I've loved Sherwood Smith's Crown & Court Duet for the longest time and when I found out there as going be a prequel, I felt excited, but also a bit apprehensive :P.

I just finished reading A Stranger to Command and really loved it

It's from a small press publisher, so probably not that easily available unless you specifically order it. Still, very much worth it! ISBN is 1-934648-55-8.
