BRILLIANT film!!! I definitely got my money's worth of entertainment with this one! The second film was a bit disappointing, but this one sure delivered the goods! Lots of swashbuckling, action, humour, etc. I really enjoyed it!

the spoilery stuff. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT MAJOR SPOILERS! )

I agree with everything!! I thought the second film was sort of disappointing yet still entertaining enough. This may be my favorite of the three. I never got bored and kept on laughing. :) I didn't know about the short scene at the end!! :(

The after credits scene is set 10 years later and has Elizabeth and her son waiting at the beach. And then the sun sets and there's the green flash, and the Dutchman appears. Awww! Very sweet!

And Will is now immortal and the captain of the Ducthman!
WOAH!! Didn't see that one coming ... of all three leads he is the most reluctant of becoming a pirate. And now he is the Flying Dutchman ...

Exactly. Which is why I totally didn't see it coming until only a few moments before it happened.

BTW, in another pirates post on my flist, TPTB apparently left out the part about the curse where if the one you love is faithfully waiting for you after the first 10 years, the curse is broken and you can stay, but if they aren't waiting, you're stuck for all eternity.

I think I like this version better. It also leaves the door open for more sequels...

my guess is it'll be a scene or explained on the DVD, but they left it out of the reg edition to leave room for another sequel, just in case

I also loved the Davy Jones' Locker scene, for the exact same reasons you did. (Although it wasn't the Pearl in those icy waters, it was that ship they got from Singapore - different rigging and so on. :P )

And Norrington's & Will's fates were surprising to me, too. I kinda expected Jack to become the captain of the Dutchman. But as the scene in which the captaincy is "decided" unfurls, it becomes obvious very soon, that Jack's not the one to become immortal. Quite yet, at least. I quite liked the open ending, with the possibility of Jack finding Ponce de León's Fountain of Youth.

You are right, of course. Now that I think about it, I can picture the different ship in my mind, but when I wrote my entry, my mind was still in a jumble, since I'd just come home from the movie theatre :).

Yes, I, too, expected Jack to become the captain, though I suspected there might be some kind a twist to the captain thing. Still, I never suspected that Will would become the captain until he got mortally wounded, and then it was fairly obvious what would happen.

I liked the open ending as well, and since this franchise has been so very successful, it's quite possible that they are planning on yet another sequel.

I think I actually heard that there are already plans for the next movie(s), but perhaps more in the way of a spin-off production. Quite possibly without any of the original cast.

I don't know if that's such a good idea, though (if it's even a real plan). I could imagine a PotC movie without Will&Elizabeth, but definitely not a PotC movie without Jack.

I couldn't imagine a POTC movie without Jack, the character is one the things that makes the movies. I could picture them making a movie about his quest for the fountain of youth with lots of swashbucking and silly adventures, that could be fun :).

I definitely enjoyed this third one, but I still think that the first is my favorite X D
I'm such a dork, I found this film really emotional for some reason. I think it was the beginning that got to me, and really resonated for some reason. (I ended up crying after the first five minutes--my friends thought I was crazy!)
But I really like the swashbuckling adventure and...of course Orlando Bloom. I thought that his performance improved immensely between the second and third film. And he was, you know, hot. : P

I was feeling a bit misty near the end when Will was made the captain of the Dutchman and then in the scene where he and Elizabeth had to part on the beach for the next 10 years.

I agree with you on the improvement in Orlando Bloom's acting skills. And of course it doesn't hurt that he is rather nice to look at :).
