In college I lent Nathan a few hundred dollars (in current value) worth of cards. At some point he told me he couldn't find his cards, and I assumed I was never seeing them again. I just found out that he sold his collection to Dan, which sounds like it involved a lot of the kinds of cards I lent him. I assume there's nothing I can/should do

Talk to Dan about it, he might be willing to sell you the cards for the price he paid, no mark up. Well, you might have to agree to play frisbee at Vilas on Sundays too...

I would be thankful you got out of your situation that light. But I'm a little bitter especially tonight. But I think thegelf is right, I'd talk to Dan and see what he was willing to do for you/ possibly ask Nathan about it?
