Archive Sungmin was still trying to take revenge on Shindong when Zhou Mi’s voice halted both of them.
“Hyung.”
They stopped in mid-battle at Zhou Mi’s word, looking at each other, the smiles disappearing from their faces.
Sungmin could not take the silence any longer and asked.
“What’s wrong Mi?”
He was not sure if he wanted to know the question.
“Hyung, what happened when I was gone?”
Both Sungmin and Shindong froze, though Shindong’s concern right now had moved from Zhou Mi to Sungmin.
Shindong watched as various emotions flashed through Sungmin’s eyes, as the other tried to calm himself. He made no attempt to take the phone from Sungmin, knowing that it was Sungmin’s choice no matter how much Shindong wanted Zhou Mi to know.
“Zhou Mi ah, what makes you think something had happened?”
Sungmin’s strained reply caused Shindong to sit up from his position on the floor as Sungmin turned away from him.
“Hyung, I know you.”
Sungmin smiled slightly at Zhou Mi’s words and Shindong’s silent presence.
“Mi ah, you don’t have to worry about that.”
But he was not ready to reveal - or re-live - it.
“Hyung…”
“Sorry, we’ve got to go now. We’ll see you in school! Bye!”
Sungmin quickly hung up the call at that statement, knowing that if Zhou Mi questioned any further, he would have given in.
He let the phone drop to the floor as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the memories.
“Sungmin ah…”
Shindong ached to wrap his arms around Sungmin, but refrained by just simply placing a hand on the younger’s shoulder. He had learned not to do that when this happened.
Sungmin shook his head, turning back to Shindong.
“I’m fine.”
Sungmin stood up, walking out of his room without another word, leaving so fast that he did not hear Shindong’s softly whispered words.
“Why don’t you let me in anymore?”

Kyuhyun snapped his eyes open.
Quickly he stood up, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. The room tilted a little as he reached out for the locker. As the world came back straight, Kyuhyun walked towards the door, deciding that he had rested enough. When he entered the main café, his hand was already dried on his uniform.
Kyuhyun rejected Yesung’s offer to stay behind the counter, sticking to the floor since there was not much time left till the closing hour. He was not sure if the break did any good for him for he certainly did not feel any better than before. He served the customers, determined to put the thoughts behind him, even if it was just for another half an hour.
Kyuhyun lifted the plate of drinks off the counter, ignoring Yesung’s concerned look behind his back even as his arms trembled a little. He still did not get why they were so worried, especially just over someone they had met for a couple of weeks. He noticed Heechul in the same aisle as him but figured he could still make it past the other. Kyuhyun jerked back slightly when Heechul suddenly turned around. Apparently his judgement was also a little off the mark today.
He was surprised that he did not spill any of the drinks he had on his tray.
“Woah. Be careful, Kyuhyun.”
Kyuhyun nodded at Heechul’s words, stepping aside to let the other past first. He then walked towards the customer, not feeling the look Heechul was giving him from behind.
“Erm, excuse me, your orders.”
Kyuhyun interrupted the conversion between the pair of girls. He had paid no special attention to the girls. To them, they were just customers. In addition, Kyuhyun had not taken their orders. It was Heechul that did. He was leaning forward to place the drink on the table when he noticed.
“Hello, Kyuhyun. Fancy seeing you here.”
Before he could react, a hand reached out, grabbing him by the wrist.
Kyuhyun visibly jerked back, losing his grip on the tray and the drink at the same time.
A loud shattering of the glass echoed in the café, with the hot coffee spraying over his legs and uniform.
But he did not notice.
All he noticed was the two girls in front of him.

Ryeowook sighed as he sent the message to Kibum, telling him that he could not meet him at the café today. He had tried calling his friend, but the phone was switched off. With no choice, Ryeowook had to tell his brother to take over his place at the café today. He had really wanted to meet Kibum today. Why did his teacher had to set them a duet piece due in the next day? He sighed again.
“Ryeowook? Are you alright?”
Henry asked worriedly as it was the third time Ryeowook had sighed since they entered the music room.
Ryeowook looked up, putting his phone away.
“I’m fine. It’s just that I was supposed to meet Kibum today and today’s my day at the café.”
Henry nodded, not questioning any further.
“Well, there’s nothing I can do about it. So why not let’s start?”
Ryeowook dropped his bag on the floor, walking to the piano as Henry carefully placed his violin case on the floor.
“What do you think of the song she set?”
Ryeowook asked, spreading the music sheets on the piano.
Henry walked closer reading the name of the song. “I’ve played the song once before, when I was much younger. Though I’m not sure how much I remember about it.”
Ryeowook smiled slightly. “At least one of us played the song before. I’ve not played this piece before.”
Henry placed a hand on Ryeowook’s shoulder.
“We have the whole afternoon and tomorrow morning. We’ll be fine.”
Henry took a copy of the score, and walked to his music stand. He tuned his violin, bringing it up to his chin. Taking a deep breath, he played.
As Ryeowook watched and listened, thoughts about meeting Kibum and about getting information from the other boy vanished. Instead they were replaced by images of a calm sea, slowly turning violent as the song approached a climax.
And Ryeowook found himself lost in the waves.

Chaos erupted around Kyuhyun as the two girls jumped up to avoid the coffee.
“What are you doing boy?” One of the girls screeched.
Kyuhyun flinched a little before grabbing the serviettes on the near-by table to offer it to the girl only to have his hand slapped away.
“That’s why Father never liked you.”
“Excuse me, is there a problem?”
Heechul spoke as though nothing was spilled on the floor, coming up next to Kyuhyun.
“Good riddance that you left.” The girl spat, wiping away the few drops of coffee that managed to hit her skirt as if Heechul had not spoken at all.
“I’d greatly appreciate it if you don’t say such things about my friend.” Heechul said icily, disliking the way she spoke of Kyuhyun.
The girl glanced at Heechul. “I can say what I like about that boy.”
And to proof her point, she continued. “I never knew you could have friends.”
“How’s the wrist? Shall we play more?” She reached out a hand towards Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun instantly took a step back, covering his right wrist with his other hand. Glass crinkled under his shoes.
Another hand intercepted hers, preventing her from touching Kyuhyun.
“Please keep your hands to yourself.”
Yesung glared at the girl.
“Mdm, we would like you to leave.”
By then, Hankyung had been drawn out of the kitchen by the sound of the crash. He might not know what happened, but judging by the way Heechul was glaring furiously at the girls while Yesung hovered in front of Kyuhyun, Hankyung could no longer stand by and watch.
The girl looked at Hankyung, then at Yesung and Heechul. The other girl apparently decided that two girls against three boys was not a good idea and tugged at the girl.
“Come on, let’s go. He’s not worth it.”
Heechul opened his mouth to retort, but Hankyung beat him to it.
“Leave.” He pointed at the door.
“You’re right. Why are we spending our precious time on him?”
Yesung bristled at the tone she referred Kyuhyun with.
They turned, not even bothering to pay.
Just before exiting, the girl turned around, having the need to throw in one last word.
“Just so you know, boy. We always have the last say.”
Linking her arms with the other girl, they exited with their conversation clear in the air.
“Now, wasn’t that fun?”
Giggles travelled through as the door closed slowly behind them.
Hankyung glanced at Kyuhyun, before he turned to the customers.
“I’m sorry that we’ll be closing now. The food and drinks is on the café. Please.”
Hankyung walked towards the door, pulling it open. The few customers left in the café headed to the door, casting worried looks at the group.
Hankyung smiled tensely at the customers as they left, some telling Hankyung to take care of the new waiter. He shut the door, flipping the ‘open’ sign over. He bent down and locked the door.
“Kyuhyun? Kyuhyun, are you alright?”
Yesung asked as the younger boy just stood as if he was a statue. Then Kyuhyun suddenly dropped towards the ground, shocking all three of them.
“Kyuhyun!”
Heechul bent down immediately, trying to grab hold of Kyuhyun’s hand.
“Kyuhyun, stop! It’s glass. Don’t pick it with your bare hands.”
Yesung squatted as well, trying to stop the younger boy from hurting himself.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
Kyuhyun did not appear to have heard any of them. He just kept repeating ‘I’m sorry’.
Yesung made a grab for Kyuhyun’s arm, managing to grab it, stopping Kyuhyun’s action. Heechul too grabbed hold of Kyuhyun’s other arm. Kyuhyun struggled against their grip.
“I’m sorry, I’ll clean it up. Please.”
Hankyung came up from behind Kyuhyun, hugging the younger boy and pulling him away from the shattered glass.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” The younger boy was starting to sound like a broken record.
“It’s okay. It’s fine. It’s just glass. We have loads of them. It’s fine.” Hankyung mumbled to Kyuhyun, trying to get the boy to calm down. He suddenly raised a hand up to touch Kyuhyun’s forehead.
“He’s burning!”
All of them spun into action at Hankyung’s exclamation.
But Kyuhyun did not notice.
Beneath all the sounds Hankyung, Heechul and Yesung made, there were the words whispered relentlessly by the youngest.
“I’m sorry.”
