Archive He gaped at the large building in front of him. Is this a house? The man holding his hand chuckled. He did not realise that he had voiced the question.
“It’s your home from now on.”
He nodded, turning his attention back to the mansion. As they walked towards the front door, he looked up to the sky.
Umma, I miss you.
He was pulled into the house, where the first thing he saw was a huge chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There were two people standing by the door seemingly waiting for them. He ducked slightly behind the man, wondering who they were. Then he remembered.
It had always been just his mother and him for all his life (despite the fact that it had only been eight years). And now, his mother was gone, but he had gained a new father, mother and brother. His young mind was still trying to understand how that happened when he heard his name.
“…Ryeowook!”
Ryeowook groaned as the pounding on his door got louder. Rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand, Ryeowook opened an eye slightly to see the white ceiling above him.
“What was that dream about?” He muttered to himself, for the dream was still clear in his head.
“Ryeowook, I’m going to leave you behind if you don’t get up now!”
“Hyung, I’m up!”
Immediately, Ryeowook jumped off the bed, dashing to open the door.
“I’m up! Wait for me! I’ll be ready in fifteen minutes!” He shouted the words at his hyung outside his room, before shutting the door again. Quickly, he gathered his clothes and towel and went into the bathroom for a quick shower. Luckily for him, his clothes had been chosen and prepared the night before.
In his rush, Ryeowook forgot to switch on the heater. Ryeowook yelped as the cold water hit him, waking him up instantly. He quickly distanced himself from the water, waiting for it to turn warm. He relaxed under the warm water, his thoughts drifting back to the dream. The strange thing about the whole dream was that it left him with a lingering urge to find out who his ‘brother’ was supposed to be.
Shaking his head under the shower, Ryeowook mumbled to himself.
“I should probably stop listening to Donghae-hyung’s talk about aliens. It’s giving me weird thoughts.”
Exiting the shower, he dried himself and donned on the suit which was prepared specially for his university initiation ceremony. In a span of fifteen minutes since he woke up, Ryeowook was dressed and ready to go. And with his university folder in his hand, Ryeowook dashed down the stairs.
“I’m ready, Hyung. We can go now!”
He froze by the door of the kitchen as he saw his hyung sitting comfortably by the table, spooning porridge into his mouth, not at all concerned about the time. His hyung looked up at him and burst out laughing. Ryeowook looked at him in bewilderment.
“Aren’t we going to be late?”
“Han Geng, I told you not to trick him.” The lady by the stove admonished his hyung.
“Honey, you still have half an hour before you need to leave.”
She directed Ryeowook to the table, placing a bowl in front of him.
Ryeowook gaped, spinning around immediately to the clock hanging by the kitchen door. And there it was, in all its glory in front of him, saying seven-thirty. Ryeowook groaned, placing his folder on the cupboard before walking to the table.
“Hyung! Must you do that every time we start a new year at school?”
That only made Hankyung laugh even louder.
The lady placed a hand on Ryeowook’s shoulder.
“Though you have to admit, the yell was really something.” She giggled as she ruffled his hair, walking back to the sink.
“Not you as well Umma!”
Ryeowook pouted at his porridge, refusing to look up at the mother and son couple who found so much pleasure in tricking him every year. And I wonder why I still get tricked every year.

“Ryeowook, let’s go!” Hankyung called out to his brother, who had disappeared to his room after breakfast even when there was only five minutes before they had to leave the house.
It was the first day of University for Ryeowook and the start of the fourth year for Hankyung.
“Coming, Hyung!” Ryeowook ran down the stairs, bidding his mother goodbye as he dashed out the door, shouting for Hankyung to wait for him.
“Hyung! Why didn’t you wait for me?”
Ryeowook gently hit Hankyung on the shoulders as Hankyung laughed at him.
“If I waited for you, you would not have come out so quickly.”
“Hmph. I still think you just wanted to trick me again.” Ryeowook acted angry at Hankyung and stomped in front of him.
They were nearing the university when someone called out for them.
“Wookie!”
A voice shouted from afar as Ryeowook turned around to the voice.
A figure pounced on Ryeowook.
“Hyung!”
His partner finally caught up.
“Hi Hannie-hyung. Sorry I couldn’t stop him in time. He’s too hyper this morning.”
Hankyung turned to the younger guy by his side that looked dashing in his suit. Hankyung raised an eye at the giggling girls around them.
“It’s just like your brother to do that.”
They turned their head towards their brothers who were hugging in the middle of the road.
“So, are you looking forward to your first day in university, Kibum?”
The younger boy, Kibum, shrugged his shoulders.
“I swear Donghae is more excited than me. It’s almost like it is his first day of school instead of mine.”
Hankyung laughed, ruffling Kibum’s hair. “That’s your brother.”
“What’s with Hyungs and their obsession with ruffling their dongsaengs’ hair?”
Kibum mumbled as he tried to return his hair back to the original state.
“Did someone call me?”
Donghae looked up from his embrace of Ryeowook, finally releasing his tight hold, allowing Ryeowook to push Donghae off. Donghae didn’t care that Ryeowook pushed him off because he found someone else to pounce on.
“Hannie-hyung!”
Hankyung caught Donghae in his arms as Kibum moved away to avoid being caught in the hug.
“Hi Donghae.”
Hankyung gasped out as he struggled to breathe from Donghae’s tight hug.
“Hyung, I think you should let go of him now, before he dies from a lack of air.”
Kibum said dryly from his side, picking up the books that Hankyung had dropped when Donghae jumped on him.
“He acts like he hasn’t seen us in like, I don’t know, years.”
Ryeowook said as he walked over to Kibum, greeting his friend since middle school.
“That’s my hyung.”
Kibum and Ryeowook exchanged amused looks as Donghae finally released Hankyung and started rambling to him what he did in the past few days. In truth the four of them had met each other just two days before in celebration of Kibum’s and Donghae’s father’s birthday.
“Kyungie! Did you miss me?”
Heechul popped his head into Hankyung’s and Donghae’s conversation.
“I missed you!” Donghae answered, jumping onto Heechul.
“Hyah! I was talking to Kyungie! Not you!” Heechul exclaimed, pushing Donghae off him, but not before hugging his dongsaeng.
Donghae smiled cheekily as Heechul turned his attention back to Hankyung, waiting for his answer.
“Well...” Hankyung said, purposely delaying his reply.
“What do you mean by ‘Well...’?” Heechul said, putting his arms on his hips.
“Well...” Hankyung couldn’t help but tease Heechul.
“If that’s all you’re going to say, I’m off.”
Heechul stomped off.
“Chullie! Wait for me! You know that I’m only joking!” Hankyung shouted after Heechul, hurriedly grabbing his books from Kibum before chasing Heechul.
“I wonder if there’s something wrong here. Shouldn’t we be the younger ones?”
Kibum said sarcastically to Ryeowook as the two stared at Hankyung trying to pacify Heechul and Donghae finding a new victim - Eunhyuk to pounce on.
“Bummie, it’s not the first day we know them.”
Ryeowook laughed at the sight of his hyung being bossed around by the princess.
“I wonder if I should switch the birth date on my passport with Hae-hyung’s.”
Kibum mumbled under his breath.
“Kibummie! Ryeowookie! You two better hurry up or you’ll be late!”
Donghae shouted across the road from the entrance of the university.
“Coming Hyung!” Ryeowook answered, waving at Eunhyuk.
“Can I not be associated with them?”
Kibum mumbled as he was dragged along by Ryeowook.
“Nope you can’t. Cos we can’t help but love them.” Ryeowook answered, smiling and letting go of Kibum.
Kibum felt his lips twitched up a little as he caught up with Ryeowook. They waved goodbye to their hyungs as the two first years head towards the massive auditorium for their first lecture or ceremony of their university lives.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ryeowook waved goodbye to Kibum as they headed to their own lectures after a long and boring introduction from some guy. Ryeowook could not remember who it was who spoke or what he spoke about. Something about enjoying life in university and study hard.
“Hyung says to meet for lunch. Don’t forget about it.”
Kibum nodded at Ryeowook’s statement, before turning to head to his classroom.
Ryeowook sat down near the back of the classroom, waiting for the lecturer to enter. His class was not huge, consisting about twenty people. Ryeowook looked around, seeing some people already joking around with others. He wondered if any of them felt as nervous as he was.
Then a guy with really chubby cheeks sat down next to him, fidgeting nervously with his violin case. Ryeowook was instantly drawn to the classmate who was as tense as he was.
“Erm...hi?” Ryeowook asked unsure.
The guy looked shocked that someone was actually speaking to him.
“Hi?” “I’m Ryeowook. Han Ryeowook.”
“I’m Liu Xianhua. But you can call me Henry.”
Before their conversation could continue, the lecturer entered, bringing a stop to all the talking around them as well.
But the two timid guys made their first friend in class.
“Would you like to join me for lunch?”
Ryeowook asked after the lecturer dismissed them. It had been a boring lesson with the lecturer telling them what to expect and how they would be assessed. Ryeowook nearly fell asleep in the middle if not for Henry poking him.
“I’m having lunch with my brother and friends.”
Henry looked unsure.
“Would I be disturbing you? It would be a little weird for me to join in.”
Ryeowook smiled at Henry.
“Nope. Hyung would be glad that I finally made a friend.”
Henry nodded, picking up his violin case.
“Do you play the violin?” Ryeowook asked, seeing how Henry seemed to hug the violin case close to him as they walked through the crowded corridor. Apparently everyone had lunch break at the same time today.
Henry nodded. “My mother taught me how to play it when I was younger and I fell in love with it.”
“That’s cool! Maybe we can play together some day. I play the piano.”
Henry nodded again, but before he could say anything, Ryeowook called out.
“Kibum!”
The slightly taller boy turned around to look at who his friend was waving at. The boy looked about the same age as them, with spiky black hair, and looking absolutely handsome in his suit, even with the loosened tie and tucked out shirt. In one word, the boy was cool.
“Hi, Wook. Who’s this?” Kibum asked as he caught up with the pair.
“He’s my new friend and classmate, Henry. Henry, this is Kibum. He’s first year law student.”
The two smiled and bowed slightly to each other. “Shall we go?”
The trio got on their way once again.
