2,100 words. Approximately 10 minutes, 30 seconds. Audio version here.

I know that I’m supposed to do free writing by longhand, but I don’t really have a notebook or anything that I can write in, so I’m doing it through the computer screen. Does that work as well? Is there some magic inherent in writing it out longhand? I know that it’s definitely ( Read more... )

I really like this! I feel like I do this a lot, get stuck on something and then that's what you start thinking about, but it's interesting to see where it led you and also I feel like we got a really good glimpse of you though this, even if it was just in bits and pieces!

Thank you so much! That was my hope, once I'd seen this all written out. :-) I'm glad you liked it!

This is such an intimate peek into the messiness of the creative process. I often think our intuition to return to the breath is such a gift. It reminds me of another contestant's share about a yoga teacher reminding the class that every breath is a rebirth.

Thank you :-) it's tough to remember sometimes to just breathe (especially when I'm doing yoga!) and to just... chill. Most people in my life think of me as the super-chill, go with the flow type guy, but I definitely don't feel that way about myself sometimes.

I'm with Lissa-- this feels like where the inside of MY brain might go!

I’m so damned stubborn that I think that maybe I’m just willfully defying the universe, its signs, and its attempts to reset me, to rebirth me.
Hahahaha-- fair enough!

Am I dying when I do yoga? Are there versions of me that go into downward dog and promptly have a heart attack and collapse on the floor?
I liked this whole little detour, especially with the fact that you're doing yoga to keep healthy and keep from dying, but what if it's actually killing you because you can't breathe in some of those positions anyway? Personally, it kills my patience. I'm all about the cardio biking and walking. ;)

how many times have I died on that commute? With a 45-minute commute each way, I would definitely FEEL like I was dying twice a day. Mine (back when I was personally to the office) is about 35 minutes, which is WAY more than I'd like. I've been doing it for 27 years now, and it was 25 minutes when I started, and that was still too long ( ... )

Thank you so much! I love it when people relate! :-D I have a love/hate relationship with yoga; personally I would rather just go for a walk to get my exercise in, but my hubby does yoga with me so that keeps me doing it.

(My husband also warned me that the commute would kill me when we bought our house a few years ago, but you won't catch me admitting it to him!)
