can't imagine why the left wing media isn't on top of this kind of thing. maybe it is because they are too busy discussing the cover of the New Yorker magazine. wtf is with that anyway?

Why was there a problem, it was crude, if effective political satirical cartoon.

If people are that delicate its a good thing there isn't an american edition of Private Eye, otherwise the entire US government would burst into tears...

The ridiculous thing is, how are people so stupid that they don't realise its satirical...and these people vote..

100% does not necessarily mean "unemployable.". My guess is that it is "100% service connected" (not disabled) for something medical. There are goofy "ratings" for what "percentage" of an injury is caused/worsened by a war realted injury/disorder, based on level of impairment. "Unemployability" is an entirely different beast/exam.

I don't know what he is SC for (haven't read the article yet), but former POWs are generally given the benefit of the doubt, at least in mental health.

The problem with the current OEF/OIF vets- at least here- is not one of access. Here they can walk in and get free care for anything for five years after discharge. The problems are more in trying to get the vets to access the system/setting the system up so that it is accessible, and with fairly determining service connection. Also not sending these reservists- some of whom were in NO shape to go into combat in the first place- back for three or four tours.

I just read the article and a few links back about his disabilities. What he is service connected for- it is not meant to be interpreted as "cannot work ( ... )

As much as I dislike McCain for his political views, I think going after him due to a disability pension would be the biggest mistake the Democrats could make right now. Even if there is no real disability here (and I have no proof of that) just stating a wounded vet shouldn't be getting his disability pension opens the door for a lot of Obama hates our troops attacks.

I hadn't understood the nuance of the "service" vs. "full". That seems like a legitimate point.

I'm not suggesting that the Democrats go after him. I'm suggesting that the MEDIA question him on it. If Social Security is such "a disgrace" then don't take it.

As for hating the troops, look at McCain's vs. Obama's record on veteran's issues and it will quickly become obvious who "hates the troops".

Of course, it doesn't matter as Obama voted yes on FISA, so he's out, and McCain is just evil.
