Poa alsodes usually has fascicles of multiple branches (more than 5) coming out from the upper leaf sheath in a spray. Did your plant have a drooping inflorescence, but with an otherwise erect stem and no rhizomes? If so, and if it was in a woodland on the SHield, then I think this is Poa saltuensis. Also, this is pretty early for Poa alsodes in my experience.
Hi Bill, Thanks! Yes, it has features as you mentioned, but I thought that P.saltuensis has mainly two brances at each node, and this one had 4-5 branches.
