There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill... or Not

First of all, I must warn you that I have never attempted to write a review of this show (or any other) before. Why I feel compelled to do it now is probably due to the fact that this episode hit close to home on some level. I am a preacher's daughter. Although I am not a highly religious person and rarely go to church, I was very concerned about ( Read more... )

Hm, I never saw anyone blaming RT/the show for the morning-after-pill mixup.

Ah, blaming the feminists. Too easy. (Forget the fact that without feminists we wouldn't have emergency contraception.) Also, this show's depiction of feminists was plain disgusting. For that I *can* blame the writers.

They blamed the show's writers. Since RT is the show runner and all scripts and stories have to get his final approval, he is ultimately responsible. So they are blaming him.

I'm not "blaming" all feminists. Just the few who decided to judge and rail against the show before watching it. I'm sorry if this offends you.

And if you really think Nish and the gang are meant to be representative of all feminists, you are are missing the point. The real feminists aren't the ones who persecute people because of their own revenge-driven agenda. The real feminist on the show is Veronica because she is more interested in finding the truth and making the real rapist pay.

I know how beneficial the feminist cause has been to our country. Voting rights, birth control, reproductive choice, family leave. We would not have any of these things without feminists fighting for them.

I'm a rabidly pro-choice feminist, so I was happy to see that, major hub-bub aside, the writers actually handled the plot with grace and dignity, and didn't spread any misinformation. The CW, though? I hate that network. SO full of crap.

However, while I don't think it was altogether great that we all jumped to conclusions prior to viewing the ep, it's difficult not to. Nine times out of ten, someone on some show will say something ridiculously wrong about something involving birth control/contraceptives, and...that's just not cool. EVER. So...understand where we were all coming from. It's kinda hard to not anticpate the run-of-the-mill 'ABORTION IS EVIL BIRTH CONTROL WILL HURT YOU BE AFRAID!!!1111!!!' speech. I'm rather proud of VM for avoiding it, actually. That they managed to do that while silmultaneously being fair to the religious factions was also a nice touch, and another reason why I really liked last night's ep.

I agree also. I was impressed with the show, even though I had already braced myself for some RU486/morning after pill confusion!

I totally understand where you're coming from. I just think people should get the facts before judging. That's all. I've spent a good part of the day trying to stop the ranting about this supposed misinformation about the morning after pill. Most of the posts were made by women who didn't even watch the show. They'd say "I didn't see the episode, but I'm against them promoting this type of misinformation." I'm against it, too. But that is not what happened in this case.

I hated the way they broke up. I thought it was soap opera-ish too. And that it doesnt make sense for Veronica to loathe Madison and not Dick.

I really liked the mystery too!

Great review...you said everything that I wanted to say but way better than I did.

As I said, I hate this realtionship arc because it's soooooo soapy. But if it brings back OPJ Logan or ends with Madison finally getting her long-deserved smackdown, it might just be worth it.

This is what I hope we get to see. I really OPJ Logan!

Thanks! I would love it if Madison got some payback "Heathers"-style.
