Jump the Shark

Has Veronica Mars jumped the shark? Come voice your opinion. I have two poll questions; one by episode and one by event/plot/moment.

If you don't know about jumping the shark, visit the website: http://www.jumptheshark.com/.

(Spoilers for everything aired so far.)

ok man, how evil do I feel saying that I feel the how has jumped the shark? I feel smaller that small - but this season really hasn't been great.

Well, a show can change and grow, but it should always stand up to the standard they set and hopefully exceed it sometimes. It's okay to be less than thrilled with a show. ;-)

the show still has time to redeem itself in my eyes, and then I may revoke my "jumped the shark" vote!!

But I think vital characters that we've come to love are being used so, so badly that I'm not connecting as well with the show as I could have this season.

But I haven't given up on the show by a long, long way.

wow, i don't think it has AT ALL. I love this season, and while yes, it has been a little different that past seasons, things change. she's in college now, so duh. The past couple of episode have actually made me laugh out loud.

I surprised anyone thinks it has jumped the shark at all. I think it's still great.

What I find interesting in the poll is the episode question has more "Never" votes than the event/plot question. Does this mean when viewed as chunks of episodes, it's still okay? (Which does not mean it hasn't jumped the shark. The show has to continuously live up to it's own standards, regardless of change.) Yet, upon close examination of the plots, people tend to vote that Yes, it has jumped the shark.

Interesting.

I feel the same way that you do about this!! -exactly!! There are things about the new season that have been different and such... but overall it's still VM!! I don't think it's lost anything! IT still has the capacity to take my breath away and to make me YELL at the TV (in both frustration and excitement, joy and dismay, happiness & sadness). The show is still GREAT imho!!! And i'm glad someone else feels that way too!!! :-)

Completely agree with you.

The show has changed, but I'm surprised that people think it's jumped the shark.

I used to use the argument of better than some things as a good enough reason to watch a show, but it doesn't make up for the lost potential.

I've always had a weirdish interpretation of "jumping the shark" that only involves when a show backs itself into a corner it can't get out of, usually by sacrificing long-term plot for some short-term twist. For example, that episode of Alias where Sydney found herself in a different country a year or two later and Vaughn was married. Or (for me) when Xander called off his wedding at the last minute on Buffy. Those were both great episodes, but the show wasn't able to deal with the long-term repercussions of those choices ( ... )

I love the writing in this season. I think it has matured. I enjoy the jokes and sarcasm. I guess I am in the minority.

You're not. I just started watching it this season and think it's great, even after now having bought the 1st and 2nd season and loving them, too.

I love how opinionated people are. God knows I am. But the negativity gets old - for me. I think the show is evolving. It is not the same, but I, for one, enjoy the changes. I need to find more Austin, TX people to watch the show with, though.

Anywho, I'm glad you are enjoying the show!

It's not meant to be negativity. I am just doing some information gathering, seeing where people fall, and trying to develop some discussion around it.

It's too bad the LJ poll is so limited. I would like to do nested questions, lol.
