I really enjoyed that! Irene and Holmes were perfectly IC, I love the hinted H/W, and Holmes actually feeling lonely (and freaking out about it) was a nice touch. Thank you for the read :)

Oh, this is just wonderful! I usually avoid fics based on ACD canon because I usually find them sterile and unsatisfying, but you really get to the heart of Holmes' character here. And your Irene is wonderful, as well. I like that you have them part as friends, of a kind, and resist the temptation to accord him attachments that are out of character.

Your setting of Rome is very evocative; your knowledge of and love for the place really shines through and you give a strong sense of Holmes' exile and how it's begun to pall for him. So congrats on a wonderful story and it's great to see you on-line again.
