Glad you found your phone - I hate that 'where's my phone?' feeling. Much as I hate myself for being so attached to my phone, I really am attached to it. Mobile phones are a wonderful convenience, but sooo easy to drop and lose.

It's always so odd to think of how much I've grown attached to having it with me, when not that many years ago I'd roam anywhere, any time of the day or night, with no way to get in touch with anyone and think nothing of it.

In a lot of ways, I think we were a healthier culture back then.

I think we were a healthier culture for sure, meaning we felt safer, but I don't think ownership of mobile phones has made our culture less healthy. I think we were on our way to becoming less healthy anyway (rising crime rate, drugs, attitude changes etc). In the light of that less healthy culture, I'm really glad we have the convenience of a mobile phone to call for help when our cars break down etc. I'm so glad my daughters have that convenience, living in the city as they do, and being nocturnal as they are. My Mum must've been so worried about me when I was their age - Ian and I hitch-hiked around Europe and a fair bit of the US and never even phoned home unless we needed money!

That's what I meant--that we weren't so anxious back then.

Where in the States did you guys travel?
