Well... I don't know if this is the correct place but well... Errr, ¿You don't have problem if my english have mistakes? LOL 'cause... I really don't speak english, but I put my best trying to write it without mistakes. Please let me know if it bother you ^^U
In an adapting Maiev for the AU I came across two rather important points I think I needed to address -- well, three, but I needed to consult you about two of them and the third I believe I can sorta figure out on my own and if anyone apps a certain character who I would love to see. Anyways
( ... )
Lots of questions, but that's okay! Always good for future reference ^_^
1) 1000 years it the average life expectancy of an elf.
2) You can assume that the organization exists, and write an official application for it later if it becomes necessary. The big cities and the little black dots on the map are the only really sizable settlements, though there might be a few tiny ones. And yes, it's safe to assume that there are forests.
3) Yes you can, just try to make it so that it doesn't tie down anyone who might apply a that character too much that they can't work their own ideas.
I now need to be (more) annoying (apologies!) and ask another bit of clarification:
Can our characters not originally be from this continent? In fact, could they have only come to this continent relatively recently? If so, are we allowed to assume things and/or make up things about places on other continents so long as the magic/technological level/other stuff remains consistent?
Yes, that is perfectly fine for both. Though if you need ideas, using one of the continents affiliated with the races (including humans) can also be considered an option!
In terms of contacting mods to for plot/story info/development, what's the preferred medium?
I can e-mail the mod gmail account, private message the mod lj account, e-mail the mods at their listed, separate e-mails, use AIM, etc. So...what's preferred?
(a.k.a. I have lots of non-public, non-rules related questions. XD )
Ah hello hello. Almost done with my app for Demyx (Kingdom Hearts) as I write this. I only have to finish the background... And just like the question a little bit before this his entire plot will have to revolve around an organization.
I was just wondering if I could do the same as Maiev and make it extremely vague? The only problem I see with this is that other Organization members might be apped and then they would have to work around what I already said and I feel that is a little unfair.
Just wanted to ask this before I start coming up with any ideas I really like but won't work.
Being vague would be the best option, however another possibility you can consider is to also leave some parts open. So long as it doesn't conflict with anything that may have happened in game or how your character acts, you can alter your background slightly to include later "pre-established" relationships if you and another person agree to do so.
Does that help? (I know this can be really tricky, especially if there are certain characters that are actually important to a person's character)

Or should this be done completely separately?

Though it should be noted that if the character doesn't live up to that role, the Guild Leader has the right to demote them.

And if we get enough members later they might even be able to start up a little subplot. Although that would be way later.

Good luck!
