In an adapting Maiev for the AU I came across two rather important points I think I needed to address -- well, three, but I needed to consult you about two of them and the third I believe I can sorta figure out on my own and if anyone apps a certain character who I would love to see. Anyways--
1) What's the life expectancy of an elf? Canonically, Maiev is somewhere in the area of 12000 years old, but for a setting like this it seems more than a little excessive. To... say the least.
2) In terms of those organizations you mentioned -- can we have them exist without other players being involved, at least at first? See, one of the key points of Maiev's character is that, even if she's strayed from it, she was the head of an organization called the Watchers in her canon, which basically acted as gloried policemen and jailers for his people, though they got a little crazy with this ideology and their pursuit of "Justice" eventually demented itself, most notably with Maiev, their leader. The Watchers obviously wouldn't be a huge society, but perhaps I would be allowed to make a profile for them to go along with the application? Maiev would have since deserted them in her pursuit of the character I'll mention in point #3, but given how recent that was she would still be their leader in name, so if anyone wanted in on them it could be a neat plot point.
...And for the setting I guess I could adapt them into some "unofficial" police force of some major city and/or settlement? Not sure which one but it would have to be older or something -- which I guess makes for a sub-point in my asking if the cities/such marked on the map are the only sizable settlements? And while I see a jungle, can one assume there is a large forest anywhere?
And lastly, though this is something I think I know--
3) While I can make excuses for other important people for her (her brother, Malfurion, Tyrande, Cenarius, etc.) one character that no matter how I rework her history or how vague I make moments of it I can't do away with is Illidan Stormrage. While I can make details of way he was imprisoned or how he was released vague, the fact of the matter is that Maiev was his warden (in the canon) for ten thousand years and a key component of her character is that after he escaped her entire life was consumed with the hunt for him, because she found she could not exist without the justification of searching for and re-chaining him what a pitiful character so I guess I'm asking if I can assume a few things about Illidan I just can't get around for my app?

2) You can assume that the organization exists, and write an official application for it later if it becomes necessary. The big cities and the little black dots on the map are the only really sizable settlements, though there might be a few tiny ones. And yes, it's safe to assume that there are forests.
3) Yes you can, just try to make it so that it doesn't tie down anyone who might apply a that character too much that they can't work their own ideas.
I now need to be (more) annoying (apologies!) and ask another bit of clarification:
Can our characters not originally be from this continent? In fact, could they have only come to this continent relatively recently? If so, are we allowed to assume things and/or make up things about places on other continents so long as the magic/technological level/other stuff remains consistent?
Yes, that is perfectly fine for both. Though if you need ideas, using one of the continents affiliated with the races (including humans) can also be considered an option!
