The breeze of the sea was flowing through the window, making the curtains move, Aiba smiled while walking close to the balcony, it had been a long time since he had been there, in his hometown. He hadn't realized how much you could miss the calmness of a small sea town like this one, especially after dealing everyday with the fast pace of a big city like Tokyo.
He decided to take a stroll down to the beach, he wanted to enjoy every minute of his stay there. While walking down the streets, memories of his childhood and his teenage years came to his mind. His heart skipped a bit when he passed by a park surrounded by big trees, and unconsciously, his feet guided him to the swing spot, his smile growing bigger as he took a sit.
This place was the most special and dearest to him, it was here where he had spent the happiest moments of his life, the little moments that changed it for better.
He ran his finger along the rusty chain, letting himself getting lost in his memories.

It was a windy afternoon, he was coming back home after had spent the whole morning helping his grandpa in the field, with the only idea of getting home fast and eat the lunch his grandma had prepared for him, he thought that crossing the park could be a nice short cut and was smiling, thinking pleased that he was right, when suddenly he heard soft sobs coming from the slide.
His curiosity made him slow down the pace and look where those noises came from, for his surprise he found a small boy sitting behind the slide with his head on his knees crying.
"Are you ok?" Aiba asked softly trying not to scare the other boy.
"I'm ok, go away" the other guy replied harshly trying to wipe the tears from his face before the other person could see them.
Aiba didn't listened and got close to him, sitting on his side while reached his hand to pat the other boy’s shoulder.
"I said go away" the other guy yelled moving a bit further of him, but Aiba didn’t moved and kept trying to comfort him, patting his back.
"It's ok, what happened?" he asked with a soft voice.
"Stop patting me, I'm not a dog" the younger boy mumbled while turning around to look at Aiba, who was smiling shyly at him.
"Sorry, granny pats me when I'm sad too and it calms me down. I guess I'm like a puppy then" Aiba replied giggling at the thought.
"You're funny" said the other guy with a small smile on his lips.
"So, what happened? Why are you sad?" Aiba got his face really close to the other boy's one
"I-I lost my game and dad will kill me if I can’t find it" the little boy's voice started trembling like he was about to start crying again.
Aiba stood up, and started looking around, making the other boy curious
"What are you doing?"
"Looking for your game! We'll find it and your daddy wont yell at you" said Aiba with a huge grin on his face.
He was starving, but couldn't let the other boy crying there alone, so they spend hours walking around looking for the game, until he found it behind a trash can all covered in dirt, he cleaned up with his t-shirt leaving in it a huge stain that surely was gonna get him a scolding from his granny.
He went back to where the tiny boy was and handed the game to him.
"Yatta! here it is!" screamed excited while a huge smile plastered on the boy's face.
"Thank you! You're not as dumb as I thought" said the other kid in a teasing tone.
"Hey!" said Aiba faking a pout that caused the other boy burst in laughs and then he did the same.
"I'm Kazu, I live there" said the small boy pointing a big house across the street.
"Oooh, you're the new boy that arrived some days ago!" Aiba replied excited.
"I'm Masaki, and I live in the house that is up that hill" he announced with pride "Oh, and how old are you?"
"I'm gonna turn 9 in a month"
"Oh, I'm 9! So that means we're gonna be classmates!"

The nostalgia for that memory made Aiba's tears brim his eyes. That day was when his life made a turn into a happier path, a less lonely one; Kazu and he became inseparable, they were all the time together. The days Aiba went to the field with his grandpa, Kazu came too. To Aiba's grandpa, it was a joy to spend time with the two boys, listening to them playing and Nino teasings to the other made the workloads lighter somehow.
During weekends Kazu's mom would prepare sleepovers with all kind of yummy snacks and fun games for both kids, and often his grandma and Kazu's mom joked about how much time they spent together, even the grandpa would join the jokes saying that they should get married when they grew older, which made both kids blush and laugh nervously at the teasing, specially Kazu who was not used to be the object of the jokes but more like the one making them

Aiba stood up and walked to the bench near the fountain, then instead of sit down he walked to the big tree behind it, he started looking around like looking for something, and then a big smiled appeared on his lips, there it was the sing of his teenage love, he didn't expect his heart would fill with so much joy to see it
"K + M" was carved in the trunk, surrounded by a big heart. He traced the letters with his fingers, letting few tears roll down his cheeks while his mind flew back in time again.

"Idiot, what you doing?" Kazu asked confused when saw Aiba trying to pass in front of him as if he didn’t see him.
"Oh! Kazu didn't know you were here" he said faking surprise and failing miserably at it, there was no way he couldn't see Kazu there.
"Spit it, what's up with you trying to avoid me?" the thin boy asked annoyed.
"I--I'm not avoiding you...I-I'm sorry" he replied lowering his gaze.
"Did I do something wrong?" Kazu asked with a worried tone of voice.
"No, no...of course not" Aiba quickly replied.
"Then why you are running from me?" the tone on the younger voice had a certain hint of sadness.
The taller guy couldn't resist and pull him into an embrace that made both of them blush, but quickly he let go of him.
"I'm sorry" was all Aiba said.
Kazu didn't reply and started walking away, and, though he wanted to stop him, Aiba didn't move or said anything.
Days passed by and suddenly Aiba's 16 birthday was coming close, he really wasn't in the mood to celebrate. The only thing he wanted was talk with Kazu, but since that day they hadn't talk or seen each other. And they stayed like that for another week more.
On his birthday he went to the park, trying to see if Kazu was home, he didn't know what to say, after all was his fault they hadn't been talking. It was true he tried to avoid his friend but he didn't meant to hurt him, he just didn't know how to act around him now that he had a secret that could affect their friendship.
"What are you doing here, idiot?" Kazu said in a snarky tone while came back from behind the tree with his game on hand.
Aiba jumped out of the bench, surprised and slightly blushing at the same time.
"I'm sorry Kazu" was the first thing he said and started walking close to his friend.
"Save it, you don't wanna be my friend anymore, fine" Kazu tried to sound as cold as possible, trying to pretend that he didn't care.
When Aiba listened this he felt his heart ache. He moved closer quickly, and without thinking he pulled him close and kissed him softly for a few seconds. For his surprise Kazu didn't move or fought the kiss.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" was all Aiba said when they finally break apart, walking back as getting ready to run.
"Come here!" was all Kazu said grabbing his arm and pulling him behind the tree
Once there, Kazu pushed him against the trunk and this time it was him the one that started to kiss a very surprised Aiba. The kiss was soft and sweet and if you ask Aiba, he’d swear he could see rainbow sparks at the contact of Kazu's lips
"I love you idiot, happy birthday" Nino said separating his lips a bit from Aiba's.
"You love me?" Aiba asked while he felt his cheeks burning, his face was covered in a bright tone of red.
"I do and I know you love me too" the younger guy replied.
"And how is that?" Aiba asked lowering his voice.
"Because I know you, and haven't I told you I know it all?" he smiled before kissing him one more time
After a few more kisses both of them stayed hugging each other hiding behind the tree.
"That was your birthday present" Kazu said out of the blue.
"Eh? Just that?" Aiba pouted.
"What you meant just that? It was an amazing first kiss so what better present than that?"
Aiba giggled a bit
"It was, Kazu has the sweetest lips in the world" said Aiba blushing and making his friend blush too.
That's how Aiba celebrated his 16 birthday, with kisses from his best friend. Before they leave their spot behind the tree, Kazu pulled out of his pocket a knife and carved their initials on the trunk.
"This will always be here as a reminder of the most amazing day of our lives" he said smiling before starting running away, making Aiba follow him laughing.

"Aiba-chan? Where have you been? I've looked for you everywhere!" a familiar voice called him pulling him out of his thoughts.
"I'm here" he said walking in the direction the voice was coming from.
"Of course, I should have known that" a handsome boy said walking also in Aiba's direction.
"You missed me?" Aiba replied with a flirty voice.
"Shut up!" the guy replied jokingly "Is still here?" he asked and went behind the tree where Aiba had been "Whoa~ after so many years it still can be seen".
"Kazu?"
"Mhm?"
"Remember that you said this was a reminder of the most amazing day of our lives?"
"Ahjam" Kazu replied not sure of where this conversation was going.
"Well that's not true."
"Meaning?" the small boy replied confused.
"That the most amazing day of our lives is about to come"
Kazu giggled
"What are you talking about silly?"
"Tomorrow when you become officially mine, my husband, then that is gonna be the most amazing day of our lives"
As all replied Kazu throw himself in Aiba's arms and kissed him softly, while he could feel the taller man smiling while he kissed him back.
