Damn. The whole interaction between them is so fascinating, especially on Petunia's part - it's creepy, and yet I love it that she's literally trying to, well, suck the magic out of him and into her. And behind that, of course, her continued jealousy of Lily, juxtaposed with Snape's loyalty to her... A very well-executed snapshot of these two!

Thank you! I'm delighted that the creepiness wasn't a turn-off, that Petunia's magical vampirism so to speak made sense against the background of her relationship to Lily. ♥

This is really, really good! I love how Petunia feels both disgusted and entranced by Snape, he himself and what he represents. It's such a good portrayal of her character. And of course, Snape is harsh and loyal to his beloved Lily. Really well done.

Oh, many thanks! I'm glad that this Petunia worked for you; I've always thought there was more to her character than what we saw in the books. And these twin approaches of disgust and entrancement have always interested me not only about Petunia's views of magic, but also about many character's view of Snape. Again, thank you for your lovely words!

Wow, many thanks! I'm delighted that you enjoyed my wretched Snape -- he's become a rare commodity ever since Rickman took over the role, I feel -- and especially that Petunia worked for you. And you cannot imagine how well you pleased me with your comment about her attraction to her father! That was a central moment for me, and yet I'd feared it wouldn't make much sense . . . thank you for sharing your impressions with me.

Sometimes I think that Rickman was the worst that could happen to the character.

I completely agree. A friend of mine once said that the HP films told the story of the wizarding war as it might have been glorified in history books, with a Snape that just has to be good and clean and handsome and noble, because Harry Potter remembered him as such . . . I think she hit a mark there, and it is rather a shame. I had begun to despair that everyone preferred Snape this way, so it is quite delight to discover you feel otherwise!

I'm also friending you back, btw, on dreamwidth as well, if you don't mind!
