I did infact get that from Buffy! The title also comes from a piece of dialogue from the BTVS episode Lover's Walk where Willow and Xander have been captured by Spike and they're about to kiss each other. They both have sig. others at that point so they need excuses as much as Peter and Claire do here.

Yep. Xander says it in that episode. Willow's like "oh, no, we shouldn't" and he gives her the sad puppy dog face and says "exemption for impending death situation".

What an exceedingly bizarre but entertaining fic. Disturbing, but hey - the whole concept of Paire is, right? You have such a wonderful writing style full of one-liners but yet both Claire and Peter have been wonderfully characterised.
The last line was a killer. ;)
