This post might seem whiney and I do apologize for it in advance

With Kathy rescinding her friendship, it has been brought home to me that I have very few close friends. The kind of friends with whom you share deep, meaningful things. The sort of friends who have seen you through the bad shit and are still around to talk about it. The kind of friends who have the dubious honor of being able to say, "I knew her ( Read more... )

We all feel like that at some point. I'm in the same situation: my close friends are in another country and I'm here with my hubby who is my only confidant. When I need to bitch about him or something, there's nobody to go to within the damn state. I tend to alienate myself from people and I don't mean to, I'm just a bad friend I guess. My closest friends grew up with me, so I'm not afraid to look like a dork or say something wrong because they are pretty much my sisters. I have tons of aquaintances, but those are different.

I'd say we should meet and hang out, but I'm afraid to be a bad friend who is always too busy, yaknow?

Sorry for the delay...

I think getting together to hang out would be a nifty thing to do.

What do you suggest? Coffee? A movie (so we can at least discuss the movie if we flounder with all other topics?)? Shopping? Crafting?

No worries, I've been entertaining myself making crap! Hehe! Coffee is always good (I drink tea mind you)! I'm kinda busy until after halloween though. Every moment I spend NOT making soap makes me feel guilty.

You're not alone - sometimes, I read what my lj friends write in their blogs, and I feel like they're 300 billion times smarter/prettier/funnier/cooler than I am or could ever be ... and wonder how or why we ever got to be friends in the first place.

Then, I remember that its nice to have that diversity and the perspective of others in my life. I like having friends that have different lives and experiences from me - I learn from them. :) And I'm glad to have them around, even when they feel like they're not all that interesting - or don't have much to offer.

Thank you for being you!

This problem of "not having anything to offer" is something I remember your bringing up at least a year ago ( ... )

Excellent ideas...all of them.

And, you're right...this train of thought is a common one for me.

my very long entry from yesterday kinda ties in with this discussion. You might want to read it if you haven't already.

I have a few people in my life that know everything about me. I don't like to open up and I think that there are things people don't want to know about me. I totally understand what you're talking about.

Why you? Because you're cool. ;)

Are the pics on a memory card? If so, bring it over here and we can download them onto our machine.
