Massage Talk

Feb 07, 2004 23:10

I talked with my parents this evening and updated them on my progress with school. My Mom says they've been looking at the clock thinking, "Kim's been in class X number of hours." How cute! My Dad wants me to do deep tissue work on him. I haven't learned this technique yet; however, I will this coming week. I checked with them about the money for ( Read more... )

WTG!

And, more importantly, you will need to decide what to charge your buddies that will be lining up at your door.

Make sure that table can hold your big pals, now. Don't wanna be on no rickety, creeky surface, wondering if I was gonna be thrown to the ground, at any time.

In all honesty, there's a market for massage and the larger person...especially massage and the larger woman. Just my opinion...

I'm still thinking about what to charge...friends, loved ones, strangers...it ain't easy! I think the school suggests at least $75/hour but I do believe it's dependent upon what area in which you are working.

I was reading the literature on the tables the other day and I do believe they are able to accomodate anywhere from 500 to 1000 pounds of working weight. The one I'm interested in can hold up to 450 pounds of working weight (I just got the literature and perused it). It also comes with a fleece liner for the table (helps keep the body warm!).

Your idea is a good one...how would you want to see advertising worded for that sort of service?

Well, I'd guess that $75 an hour is fair. I can't spend that, myself, but if I could, I certainly would. A whole hour of massage...decadence.

The wording would have to be sensitive...you don't want to come out and say "hey, I specialize in massage of the larger body"...but you can't be too vague, either. I'm not being helpful, am I?

I'd just be open to it, and maybe put your cards/fliers where folks of all kinds can find them. You are going to have to put yourself out there, to drum up business, get that website going, make sure you are viewed as approachable and warm. If that makes sense?

This is the place I usually go to for Massage and they do the whole aromotherapy along with the massage. They raised their prices a bit in January, but this should give you an idea =]

Harmonie

The massage prices are listed under "Spa Body Therepies"
