[Nino's actions and memories occurring between the past, near the river, and the present, in Mayfield, were obscure, grainy, and easily forgotten. They could be compared a dream sequence which, as the day progresses, reality over-writes the assumed fiction. He's guessing this might be his new 'wife'.]
Are you a new arrival?

Expecting to see Ric, her lover, she prepared to have her usual blunt morning conversation before going back to sleep at the 'home home' However, this wasn't Ric. Or was it? Unfortunately, this Venusian had a failing memory and could only remember bits and pieces of what Ric looked like. He wore a suit like Ric (assuming since 1950s) but it wasn't in the same tailored fashion or color scheme. And his face... ... this place isn't anywhere near the Arakawa river, is it?
[Nino was beginning to get it as she remained in her mellow morning state. The young woman sure wasn't in Kansas her village, anymore.]
The village chief gave me a name, I'm now Nino Fujimiya, what name did he give you?
[Where Nino came from, it was tradition for the village chief, who was a kappa, to see if the newcomer was fit to stay in their village. If this individual was deemed worthy, he would give the person a new name.
Nino assumed it was the same in Mayfield because she didn't have a last name prior to arriving. Somehow, someway; her memories were still fuzzy from when she arrived to waking up under the bed, she was sure someone in power had given her the last name of Fujimiya.]
