*SQUEE* This is beautiful and I absolutely LOVE it! The discussion of marriage being hard is so true--I think every couple has moments like that. I love how Bill came up to Fleur and hugged her from behind--that's what MrWheezy does to me! I completely LOLed at the line about "gravy". Of course, I loved the ending! ;D

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! I really didn't have any ideas as for what to write, so I just sat down, started free writing, and this is what resulted.

I don't know personally about marriage and its challenges, but I've listened to elle_blessing talk about it, so I took some stuff from her talks and tried to weave it into this. And Fleur doesn't like gravy. She prefers sauces.

Aaaww, so sweet and romantic. Great fic, hun. I've never been out of the country but my plans in the long run are to go to live abroad and I try imagining how hard it will be. Once you're away from home, you start missing the little things you're used to have.
Lucky Fleur that she has such a handsome and good man by her side ;)

I've actually been thinking about living abroad and reading a lot of expat blogs, and the challenges of adjusting to life in a new country with a foreign spouse is a common theme. I'm sure it was no different for Fleur.

And Bill is quite handsome. Fleur's rather fond of him. ;)

This is fantastic! You've made these characters real here by showing a bit of angst.

As a little girl, she'd often romanticized her future marriage. She'd put up an inner idea of life as a princess, with a husband who treated her as such-doted on her, catered to her every whim, loved her. Bill loved her, and she loved him-more than anything, really. But marriage itself was hard. Her husband had a temper to match her own, and anytime they rowed, there were usually tears, shouts, and broken objects scattered about the cottage.

I like how specific this is to this pair of newlyweds while it's universal enough for us all to feel empathy.
