Dreams that you want to see the end of...

So, being pregnant, (which I am for those of you who have not read the Cell thread), I find the subject is preying on my subconscious. Agh, I just thought about visiting the Cell the other day! I had the weirdest feeling that I was missing out on something.

8D Congratulations! I'm so excited for you guys!

But it made me decide that there should be more pregnant action heroes. Or at the very least, ones for whom motherhood does not mean retirement to background character (see Season 3 Carly). I seem to recall that MASK managed to have a single dad who juggled caring for his son and leading a vigilante group. Why can't women get the same treatment (Mrs Incredible aside, and even she was supposedly retired)?

It's not a television series, but the Metal Gear Solid video games feature a couple of those. In fact, one of the lead characters in the third game is heavily defined by her nature as a "mother of war."

Doesn't sound like a bad movie. Retreating because it's lunch time? Awesome. But you're right, too often motherhood is portrayed as the end of a character's career. The G.I. Joe comics have featured many characters with kids. Most recently the Baroness has had a child and is still in action, so maybe the trend is reversing?
