Where do babies come from?

I didn't expect to hear that question so soon.

R's teacher is having a baby at the end of the month so I shouldn't be surprised that she's asking questions about babies and their provenance and all that. What I didn't expect was this exchange:

"Mommy," R asked, "Do you remember when you told me that sometimes boys marry boys and girls marry girls
