Hey F-list, help me with this one

Fandom has many many roles but it seems like a lot of times people think that the only way to participate is to write fic or draw art.

Help me come up with a list of all the different active fandom roles that people can do, especially those who aren't good at writing fic or drawing.

This is what I started:

Fic writer ( Read more... )

meta, commentary, fandom roles, list

Caricatures! Maybe the oldest form of fanworks. :)
Like when Jeffrey meet George and George really tastes like puke. George offers to go on a strict papaya diet and stay off the asparagus, but Jeffrey just can't be bothered. They each marry pretty Mary Sues and live happily until they die of old age. ;)))

Crafting. I've seen some awesome plushies and fandom-type jewelry.

Gossip? I don't know if that sounds too pejorative though. Reporters?

Eh, I'd like to leave the wankers and ranters to their own coms. This was more inspired by those people who say "I feel like I can't contribute anything to fandom because I can't write or do art." I'd like to have something handy so I can get them thinking out of the box. "LOL you can always troll" seems like bad advice.

Mm. I don't know if sporking or MSTing really fits either. I mean they can be funny but they almost never are and maybe that fits under parodist.

I was thinking of Yu-Gi-oh the Abridged Edition myself. But yeah, I think sporking and MSTing falls under it.

Definitely -- though few people do get the opportunity to photograph things from the canon, they can take photographs of conventions and cosplayers and of course do puppet theatres with plushies.
