I had a facebook once, I stopped using said facebook almost two years ago and I couldn't be happier about said decision for MANY reasons but I found out through some other people that some people are writing this on there?

you know, thanks for that... it was really sad for me to read that... just the thought of people treating my parents like crap because they feel superior over the fact they speak a language -_- the worst part is I have lived it... it's a horrible feeling.

I am so happy you posted all this hun... the US really needs to be realistic and stop being so high and mighty over the fact they are North Americans... sure, it's cool but guess what? It doesn't make you ANY MORE of a human being than the next person...

i am hoping (more like assuming) that you read my entire post on this and know that it was a rant about how stupid and ignorant those claims are. The rant was originally written as a Facebook note so some of the language I used in there was geared towards the idiots on Facebook (ie: calling the US "America" at least once - trust me, it bugs the crap out of me when people do that.)
When i posted the same rant on Facebook a lot of people just read the first paragraph and thought that I was agreeing with/promoting the stupidity. :(

I've been sitting here trying to figure out how to say this without coming across as a giant douchebag, so I'll start by saying I mean no offense in anything I'm about to say and that you are more than free to disagree with me. Okay, here it goes

PS - I do know that learning a new language as an adult is extremely difficult. I've been trying to learn Spanish for years, and it's soooo hard. lol I can roll my R's though! I've been told it's genetic and you either can or you can't. i don't know if that's true though.

just thought of adding it is not genetic in any way. We studied it in genetics and there is a gene that prevents people from rolling their tongue, not their r's, that's something everyone can do but it's hard for people that have never done it.

Good to know. It's always hard to get my tongue going if I haven't done it in awhile, but once I get it started it's pretty smooth sailing. ...Wow, that sounded kinda dirty. lol
