Well, marzipan has a bunch of sugar in it, and while I love marzipan, that seems like the primary flavor.

Your best bet is to make your own. Get some raw almonds, toast them, and whiz them in the food processor with some salt and maaaaybe a dash of sugar until it's the texture you'd like. You might need to add some oil to get the right consistency.

We just tried almond butter for the first time a few days ago too, and it was really really runny. :(

Try one of these, not your ordinary almond butters. http://justinsnutbutter.com/

almond butter will taste nothing like marzipan; it's like runny peanut butter, in all its salty and nutty goodness. it's fantastic. marzipan is more of an amaretto/fake almondy taste, not sure where you might be able to get something that tastes more like that that's spreadable.

Ya know, a drop or two of amaretto, simple syrup, and almond extract might cure all its perceived ills. I don't think almond butter is supposed to taste like anything marzipan-y but I see where you're going with the idea and it sounds good for muffins and stuff like that. I think most nut butters are going to be somewhat subtle without some additives.
