It is possible... I know vegans who can't eat soy, gluten, or nuts and do fine.

You'll want to eat seeds if you can, lots of leafy greens, quinoa, potatoes, grains, etc

try quinoa. it's a complete protein.. and cheap if you buy it in bulk. it's a grain, sort of like couscous.

it's actually a seed. :-)

(not that grains aren't also seeds, but quinoa isn't from a grass)

also, cous-cous is a pasta. ;-)

yes, i think it's possible.

can you eat gluten? seitan is yummy. quinoa is great. whole wheat grains and whatnot.

chances are, you wont be hurting for protein if you eat lots of whole foods, fruits, veggies, leafy greens, big salads, fresh stuff, etc.

but i don't think you're going to get any suggestions for non-vegan proteins in a vegan community.

Isn't seitan soy? I always thought it was ...
It isn't just protein I'm worried about. It's nutrients, variety, all the amino acids, and also a healthy acid/alkaline balance (I get stomach upsets when I eat too much acid).

I'm trying to become healthier and clear up my acne, fix my irritable bowel, and my lethargy

Do or do not, there is no TRY. Pick one.

As for your acne, given your age, antibotics or antibotic cream (clindamyin phosphate) might be the only thing that helps.
Withhazel might be a good start. Kiss My Face mud mask...

You have IBS because you are not getting enough fiber and grains in your diet.

As for your lethargy...are you getting any exericse or cardio at all?
That is probably tied to your terrible diet. Or you are just lazy.

Eat some fish.

please do not suggest that members eat animals.
(also your comments are borderline rude, if not straight up rude.)

Lethargy can be caused by a lack of protein and obviously iron - I would take a serious look at what you're eating and learn how much protein is in those foods as well as how much you need. You need to get regular exercise (not exercising will make you feel tired as well) but if you're diet isn't providing you with the proper nutrients, you might just not have the energy ( ... )

By the way, you can buy vegan protein supplements, but I'm not sure how much they cost or what's in them - you might want to check online or at your local health-food stores.

Thanks for that - it's not just protein I'm concerned about though, it's nutrients too. And variety. I feel crap relying on grains so much and not proteins. I can't eat lentils, soy, chickpeas or peas. Is it possible to get all nine amino acids from the other beans out there (some of which I'm allergic to, not sure which though, just know I'm intolerant to four bean mix), and from grains and stuff too? I think I could make up the right amount of protein from grains and cereals but I doubt it'd be healthy to have such a limited diet and I doubt I'd get all nine aminos. But I really don't know.

You can definately do well on a multi-vitamin. I just bought DEVA's, I'll review it for you if you want.
