I have a movie question, has anyone watched 30 Days Of Night?

I heard that dogs die in it, how do they die and is it tolerable in any way at all? I really love horror movies and such but if an animal dies I can't watch it. Any experience with this movie would be greatly appreciated THANK YOU! :D

I don't remember how the dogs die in particular, but that movie SUCKED ASS.

Do you not count humans as animals?

:(

Maybe I would have found it tolerable if somewhere in the movie they had explained why the hell the vampires were SPEAKING KLINGON, FFS.

:D

I watched it, didn't really care for it.

The ending is WTF, though.

I don't quite remember a scene where dogs are killed.

WAIT. Yes, I do.
I cried, which is about all I know.
You don't see them being killed, though.

I loved that movie! Some huskies were slaughtered by the vampires, but as far as I remember, it didn't show it happening, just suggested it with blood on the snow. It was sad, but you should be okay. =)

I hope I'm not the only one who thought the ending was wonderful. It wasn't generic.

Me me! For all it's faults, I was most impressed by the ending as indeed it wasn't a typical hollywood cliche. I'd be willing to guess they stuck to the source material for the ending.

Oh and to the OP; i totally agree with you. I will get mad & sad as hell if animals are killed in a movie but not so much with humans - unless it's a character we've gotten to know. I guess 'cos i'm expecting at least few humans to die bloody in a horror, so i am prepared. My reaction also depends on whether we are allowed to mourn the animals or if they're just treated as fodder (in this film i seem to recall them being pretty upset by the death of the dogs).

Out of curiosity...why are there so many people who can watch violence towards humans on tv...but not other animals?

I'm not trying to pick a fight here; it just seems kind of hypocritical.

Ditto on the curiosity.

I personally tend to have an unhealthy amount of empathy for even ridiculous things I see in obviously fake movies. I totally can't stand watching animals die -- human or otherwise!

But it has always confused me when people care about nonhumananimal life more. I dunno. I don't see how one has to outweigh the other.

I'm more bothered by violence to non-human animals on screen as I'm less certain that it's staged.

that's my reasoning too.

I wanted to turn off "No country for old men" because there were like 3 dead dogs in the first 20 minutes! I haven't seen 30 days of night, but I totally understand your feelings.
