MLB player becomes a vegetarian.I consider the writer's tone in the article to be condescending, but I really like that this guy took a stand after learning of the horrors of factory farming and isn't embarassed to discuss it. I think the more people in the public eye that do that, the more people start changing their stereotypical view of veg*ns ( Read more... )

but a few weeks ago he received a book from his wife, Chanel, that changed his outlook on what he puts in his massive frame. The book described how certain animals are treated and slaughtered for food.

And the book that was in question... was it Skinny Bitch? ;P

Want more lols, I just found out from my brother that it was Skinny Bitch!
That book is going to end up converting the world much to the chagrin of feminist vegans everywhere, hahahah

That is cool, good for him (not that I know who he is, lol). Of course the "yay for you" sentiment was ruined a bit when I decided to read the comments to the article...

and nice how the author lasted "five or six hours" being veg in college?

the comments on that article made me see red, though i refrained from posting any replies because the level of intelligence on those pages seems to be pretty dismal

but did anyone notice that there are over fifteen pages of omnivores telling vegans that they're stupid, unhealthy, high and mighty, as well as numerous posts telling vegans and vegetarians to "stop preaching"... but not a single post from any vegans or vegetarians doing any preaching whatsoever?

i really, really wonder where vegans get their reputation from, because i consistently see omnivores making posts like this and arguing with invisible enemies

i got so excited when i read this post. my boyfriend is a HUGE baseball fan and played in college. he is also vegan. he got so upset with the number of omnivores preaching about being above animals that he wrote a beautiful comment about animal rights and vegetarian nutrition.

then, when he pressed send, a message popped up that said the comment did not post and the message was deleted. too bad.

well, GO PRINCE FIELDER! i always knew there was a reason why i liked him so much.
