MLB player becomes a vegetarian.I consider the writer's tone in the article to be condescending, but I really like that this guy took a stand after learning of the horrors of factory farming and isn't embarassed to discuss it. I think the more people in the public eye that do that, the more people start changing their stereotypical view of veg*ns ( Read more... )

I think as well that the more we can reel off lists of vegan athletes, the better. I am not a great follower of sports, but it is good to be able to say to people that specific powerlifters, bodybuilders, triathletes, cyclists, and Olympic medallists are vegan.

"But the Brewers' hefty slugger showed up to camp on Wednesday and dropped the mother of bombshells for someone of his considerable size: He is now a vegetarian." Oh, right--it's a bombshell for "someone of his considerable size," cuz big, burly men "need" meat. [/sarcasm]

Well, I hope this guy defies the writer's expectations and sticks with this.

You beat me to this post! Ha. I am so happy that this guy is now a vegetarian! However, I hate hoe the author of this article glorifies meat and is like "How can you live without burgers?!?!?!" Gross....

Hmmm...now if only we can get him to go vegan....

I can't remember the last time I read an article about or related to veg*nism that didn't take a condescending and/or negative approach to it, other than in veg*n publications. Good for Prince Fielder though, hope he sticks to it.
