I think most people have heard of The Burning Man Project by now, but I was curious to hear whether any of you have gone before or know vegans/vegetarians who have & could offer advice on what sort of food to bring

Another thought I just had would be pita chips and hummus mix, provided you don’t mind lugging along the olive oil & maybe a ReaLemon. Also, a few Lärabars might work, too.
An alternative lifestyle festival is going to have quite a few vegetarians and vegans in attendance, and I'm sure quite a few vegan and vegetarian food vendors.
There are no vendors at Burning Man, though I'm sure you're right about there being other veg/vegan folks in attendance. Have you looked in vegancooking's archives? The older posts are to be found in the Recipe Index & FAQ, the newer via the tag system, to be found at the right-hand side of the page. I know there are sections on backpacking, camping, etc., so you may find something helpful there.
I did look a bit there (I'm a member there also), but a lot of it assumed I would have heat or didn't take into the desert climate. It's hard! I guess I'm just hoping someone's personal experience with Burning Man to come up here... Haha. A long shot, I suppose.
No problem. Actually, people have posted good info on packaged/dehydrated foods, easily prepped foods, etc., such as Fantastic Foods, Tasty Bite, Simply Asia, etc., which only require hot water - easily created by leaving a bottle out in the hot sun. It may be worth a post there asking specifically about desert-friendly camping foods; you never know who's going too, or has been out in the desert in the past.
