Stew and Cheesecake

Ricedreamgirl inspired me to make a good hearty stew! I also made a cheesecake which was pretty damn good though the picture does not do it justice... mostly because we ate half of it before we took the picture...

P.S. I've done the same stew with pearl barley instead of puy lentils, and red wine or Madeira instead of dark ale and it may ave had the edge. It depends if you like being able o taste the smokiness of the pimento.

Vanilla is a bean obtained from a type of Mexican orchid. Beans grow in pods. You can buy actual vanilla beans in pods in the shops these days, though the extract in bottles is still more common (and cheaper).

sorry, I should have just looked up the word "pod", derrr. I prefer vanilla that way.

Seems I sometimes forget English isn't my first language. :x

Oh man that is the best news I have heard all day, and it's not even half past nine! That said, I'm a sworn convert to Henderson's Relish. It "dicks all over" worcestershire sauce, for want of a more suitable term.
