So hi, some of you might remember I made a post in January because I had back problems and couldn't cook my own food. Well, another month of agony, 3 hours of emergency surgery and some majorly shitty hospital food later (I was given tuna salad as the 'vegan' option on THREE seperate occasions), I've had a disk removed and the back problems have ( Read more... )

My most favorite soup in the world is chickpea-noodle from Veganomicon, made with the nicest (priciest) miso you can find. I like to add a chiffonade of greens (kale, collards, whatever). I've got a pot in my fridge right now. What I do to prevent the soba from soaking up too much liquid and getting soggy is to leave it out until right before I eat it, then boil up an individual portion with the noodles. Food of the gods.

This soup is magical, yes! You can also use 'normal' pasta (tiny bows or shells or whatever), which don't seem to go as soggy as quickly as soba.

You're right about the pasta. I just love the flavor of soba and I'm willing to go to a little more grief to get it into my life.

When I'm loaded, I eat lots of tempeh. It costs 3€50 for 180g here... If money was really no object, I'd also buy 'tartare d'algues' all the time: a tartare of different seaweeds that's all seasoned and delicious.

I just made this soup from Fat Free Vegan Kitchen and it was delicious. However, after a few days it lost its beautiful deep red color and began to look like gray gruel. My partner had a field day with the Oliver Twist references.

I love garlicky soups, lentil soups and bean soups (white bean, black bean, chickpea), and had this for dinner the other night. Yum! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
