Incredible Tofu Whipped Cream Recipe!

When I was in living in Tokyo my favorite restaurants was this vegan/macrobiotic place named Cafe 8 (http://www.cafe8.jp/). i actually made something similar to this the other day but used sugar instead of maple syrup, and didn't add rum. it sort of resembled cool whip, but it didnt have much body to it. i'm not sure if chilling it would have helped. maybe next time.

Yeah, this sounds yummy, but more like a vanilla pudding or mousse than like whipped cream. For one thing, it's not whipped. :)

I guess it's not actually whipped, but I use it for everything I used to use whipped cream on :) And as much as I love it, I probably wouldn't eat it by itself like you could vanilla pudding or mousse ;)

Just curious, but is the Cafe 8 cook book written entirely in Japanese? I tempted to order it.

Vegebook 1 and 2 are entirely in Japanese. Vegebook 3 comes in Japanese and English. I have the first book and the English version of the third book. The first two books have a mix of all kinds of recipes and the third book is only desserts. I'm working on translating some recipes from the first book, so if you're interested I can keep you posted when I get a recipe translated :)

I am actually about to post a lasagna recipe I translated :) My boyfriend and I made a blog to document our trip to Japan, so we definitely will be posting the recipes there, it won't be hard for me to copy and paste and post them here too :)

What brand of tofu did you use? I went to Kansai years back for a trip & Japan is the land of tofu heaven~!!

I didn't get a chance to make the recipe when I was in Japan.. but when I made it here I used Mori-nu and it tasted exactly like what I ate at the restaurant :)
