So, for nearly four months I've been cooking and eating vegan. I'm mostly happy with my options, but there's one stumbling block I haven't gotten over and that's the tendency of vegan recipes and foods to be sweeter than I want them to be. My favourite broth cube is the Rapunzel's vegan sea salt and herbs. And don't be afraid to throw nutritional yeast into basically anything savory. You don't need a recipe to use it. I use it often in gravies, soups and stews, pot pies, and casseroles.

And I always base gravies off a roux and then whatever chopped up bits and broth I have on hand, then season with nutritional yeast and spices. It's not low fat, but it's awesome.
