apple dessert

Tomorrow night I'm cooking dinner for my boyfriend and his family. We usually eat vegan around here and the rest of his family is very lactose intolerant. I'm making a tofu quiche and ratatouille, and now I'm trying to scrounge up a recipe for some baked apples to serve with vanilla soy ice cream. All of the recipes I'm finding online want me to ( Read more... )

Not crumbly, but I'd do crepes.

You're probably looking for an apple brown betty (more of a bread pudding), apple crumble (like a Dutch apple pie, only without crust) or apple cobbler (like an apple pie without the bottom crust).

Just google any of these and plenty of recipes will show up. All of them are fairly foolproof, too. Good luck!

Ignore the above comments and make apple crisp, which sounds like exactly what you're looking for. :)

This. Definitely a tasty cross between crumble and cobbler!

No, it's just a crisp and nothing like a cobbler.

(My peach cobbler can be found here and is quite yummy, but I still recommend apple crisp to the OP for this occasion.)

Yep - love making apple crisp! Peaches work great too, as too mixed berries....

I don't have a recipe right off hand but try looking up a clafoutis. It's a traditional french dessert of fruit (usually pears, cherries, or apples) baked in an eggy batter. I'm sure there's a vegan version out there with self rising flour or something.

Bon chance!

An apple crisp would be exactly what you're describing considering the ingredients you listed - however, it's pretty American. And while there's nothing wrong with that, a clafoutis might be a nice authentic dish!

Either way I'm sure it'll be yummy!
