Silken Tofu

Dec 23, 2008 20:42

I hope this isn't a silly question...but I had bought some silken tofu a couple weeks ago and I just made some vegan pumpkin pie for tomorrow. I just realized the packaged said sept 13 08. Doesn't the vacuum silken tofu last till you open it or should I throw away this pie?

Thank you so much. I ate a piece last night and I'm fine.
I just didn't want to feed it to my family and make them sick! :)

that's really good to know! i have 3 that expired in november and i was too scared to use them but too sad about the waste to throw them out. were you keeping yours in the fridge or on the shelf?

just on the shelf. :-) (actually i get cases of 12 for about $9. and i keep the case on the stairs. they were even covered in dog hair and dust. :-) a quick rinse and wipe and they're good as new. hahaha! i'm disgusting. and not dead yet!)

I actually used some expired Mori-Nu vacuum pack tofu in a lemon pudding a couple of years back, and yes, it was bad and it did taste horrible.

The pudding was supposed to be so delicious. I was crushed.

I seem to recall it was many, many months past-date though (buried in the back of a cupboard).

You would KNOW if the tofu was bad.
