personally i would be planting the slimy parts in my garden, not making them into stock. but i am very overcautious.
and i've also found that mushrooms dried out in the fridge reconstitute really nicely the same way that storebought do. and tend not to go all slimey. and haven't killed me by eating them.

Yeah, unfortunately I have no garden, so out means into the landfill. But that's where these went. I've had good success with the double-bagging method keeping mushrooms fresh for astonishingly long periods, but obviously I pushed it too far this time. Oh well.

i would err on the side of caution - i was obscenely ill recently from some oyster mushrooms that seemed fine. i would not go back there agai, definitely not out of thrift!
