Pomegrantes

Hello. I got some fruit today to make a fruit salad and the market had a special on pomegrantes. I remember something about there being a certain way to open them up, but I don't remember exactly. Is there a tutorial or something that could help me? Please help!

The only trick I've heard of is to sort of tear them apart in a bowl of water. Keep worrying the sections apart with your hands, and the water helps the white membranes separate from the good stuff.

you just have to pick them apart, there's no special method. pull the skin off, pick out as many seeds as you can, and pull the flesh away to get to the next set of seeds. or you can cut them in half, but then even more juice gets everywhere. but why do you want to put the seeds in a salad? just eat them! they're way too good to mix with other stuff.

the company POM does animal testing, so don't buy from them, but they give good information on how to get the fruit out:

I have heard that you can beat the seeds out, but that never really worked for me. I cut the fruit in half, hold it face down over a bowl, and squeeze the outsides in so the seeds dump out in the bowl. It doesn't make a mess that way, and I don't lose any of the juice. Of course, I have to pick out the white parts, but it doesn't take that long.

lol that seems so much more sophisticated than when my classmate stuck a knife in one in the middle of a lecture and proceeded to spray pomegranate juice all over the desk and his notes.
