La Choy brand noodles appear to be vegan...

Chow mein noodles aren't vegan?!!! I've never made chow mein before, but I do get it at restaurants sometimes.

Apparently some are made with egg and wheat, while some are just wheat.
Annoyingly it's something you need to keep checking.

chow mein noodles, and noodles in general, be it pasta or be it chinese noodles often times have eggs in them especially in restaurants where they are made fresh.

thai rice noodles might be one exception, though you always have to ask. :/

to the original poster - go to an asian grocery and you will find the noodles you are looking for.

grrr. I'm so angry about my local supermarket right now. my favourite chow mein came in two kinds. one with, one without eggs.

last week I saw that only 1 out of the 4 piles was the no-egg version (it used to be 2/2) and yesterday the no-egg version was completely gone. grrrrrrr. grrrr.

I had to buy another brand. bleh. if they still won't have 'mine' next time I go there I'll go turn into a creepy bitch on some person that works there. hahaha

Hey thanks everyone - I'll definately look harder now that I know there are vegan brands out there. I also had the thought that I could use puffed rice as a sub in a pinch.
