huh they basted only once? that will definately cause the dry out. but i still prefer the unturkey. i wrap it and baste it every 20 minutes with white wine, EVOO and a splash of soy.

tofurkey seems to be by far the most controversial veg food! everybody has an opinion on it - love it or hate it!

It does seem to be a polarising force in the veggie world :)

Personally, I loathe the stuff. Oddly, the meat-eaters loved it, and we were left pushing it round our plates.

I really wish tofurkey would put the orange juice/sugar/soy sauce directions back on the package. I never have a problem and I don't actually baste either. I tightly wrap the thing in foil with the juice/soy mixture so it's basically always coated in liquid. I also never ever use the gravy. It's bland and disgusting. I make my own from a recipe in How it All Vegan I believe. It's made of mushrooms and is nice and peppery.

That's the baste that I use on my Tofurkey still, too. But I love the gravy. :)

My former mother-in-law bought me one of those things for Thanksgiving one year, and it was okay. However, it gave me the worst digestive problems I have ever had. Horrible stomach ache, horrible horrible gas. Ugh, I shudder even thinking about it now.
