Some sauteed leeks added to your pureed pumpkin/carrot/curry soup would be tasty, and less overpowering than onion.

Or the Recipe Index & Archive in this community. Most soups will freeze well - I've never had one that hasn't. Cooked grains, including pasta, can be used in soup and put through the blender.

Wow, I never even thought of pasta. This makes me want to make minsterone soup now. Mmm.

I use this recipe when I'm making bread...it's very basic and you can add whatever you want to it. I make it with 4 cups wheat flour and 2 cups all purpose unbleached white flour. The recipe makes 2 loaves so you can halve it if you only want one.

i posted a recipe for a curry pumpkin soup a couple of weeks ago...

you just sautee leeks and fennel in a little veggie oil, add as much curry as you like, then 1liter of vegetable broth and pumpkin -- the recipe calls for two cans, which sounds like about what you've got. cook it until the leeks and fennel are tender, add a can of coconut milk and blend the whole thing. yum!
