I looked through the memories and didn't see anything about this. If there is a posting, please just direct me toward it and I will quietly wander off to read it ( Read more... )

but I found a good idea for a vegan camping treat. You need a banana, dark chocolate, and some berries.... cut a slit in the side of the banana from top to end, stuff the inside with the chocolate and berries.... then, wrap in foil and throw on the fire....

The above is a link to marshmallow-related postings, and I believe the only brand that is vegan currently is vegansweet found via pangea at veganstore.com

Ack! Personally, I think the pangea marshmallows are awful, which is strange because in general their vegan sweets line is good. Luckily though, they are NOT the only vegan marshmallow out there.

Check out http://www.veganessentials.com/ and use the menu to go to the marshmallow page. They have the BEST marshmallows ever, they are so good and they crisp on the outside and they melt on the inside and along with a tropical source bar of chocolate and some cookies, it's campfire or over the grill fire (our usual mode) gooey heaven. They also have marshmallow goo that comes in a tub, which I have never tried, but I can see how if one were in the market for a vegan substitute for a tub of marshmallow goo it would be exciting.

**Sorry for overusing capslock, I'm a little overexcited about marshmallows**

The marshmallow "goo" shouldn't use gelatin at all seeing as it isn't firm.

I make my own marshmallows with vegan gelatin substitute and they melt beautifully. We toasted them over our fire pit almost every evening last fall.

yes, please!

I saw a recipe for flavored marshamallows (the regular kind) and I wondered if a substitute for the gelatin would work. I'd love to hear how you make yours.
