Famous for its pushing of banana milk, a concept I find repulsive, it is actually a grocery store well stocked with Korean and Japanese foodstuffs as well as the sorts of western-style groceries one hits up the 7-Eleven for when one is desperate. It was 9 F out on Friday morning, but it's possible that was the last of it, as now we're into above-freezing temperatures for the next several days, i.e. normal for this time of year. The T is melting snow on the tracks with a giant hair dryer, yes they are. This after using propane torches on the switches on Tuesday. Life is hard when you're an elderly system systematically under-funded. Apparently nobody wants to hear that, which is why the T director is getting out of town before the new governor can fire her. Whoa, holy shit. So not only have we now had between 72" and 84" of snow in the past 2 weeks (if you'll recall, yesterday the cumulative total was 55"), the snow is ending tonight, and the state is asking us to stay home tomorrow.
I mean, we kind of have to, because public transit is literally broken, i.e. they're shutting down everything on rails ( Read more... ) -

Of course, what is it doing again? It is snowing. Mostly I am glad I had the cold that knocked me on my ass the week before all this started (5 inches cumulative through about 1/14, 55 inches cumulative since).
