insta-rec and Jericho

First, an insta-rec -- Fireball, by celli. I may well be the least-likely reader for this fic, since it's an SGA AU set in the world of NASCAR racing, which is something I know absolutely nothing about. Maybe less than nothing. As I type this, I'm betting that the "R" stands for "racing," so that NASCAR racing is actually redundant. Whatever. The ( Read more... )

In other news, I have been reading Vorkosigan books pretty much non-stop for the past few days, and will probably have something to say about that, eventually.

Heh. I'm happy to have helped make a new fan. Hey, that means you'll be able to write Vorkosi-verse for Yuletide or Multiverse! *grins*

You are also making me want to watch Jericho and Heroes this summer...

Jericho does not have the greatest start -- it's slow and has a lot of characters, and it pulls its punches. But the show really comes together over the course of the season. And it's apocafic! You should watch it!

Oh, they had better not EVEN have killed Jimmy. (Haven't seen the episode yet.) He's become such a real person over the course of the season, especially given the amount of screentime he gets.

The more I think about it, the more I think that we see Jimmy in a later scene, and only red shirts get killed with Stan. I need to see the episode again!

No worries. I thought it was North American Stock Car Auto Racing before I looked it up. :)

I am *loving* this story and I don't think I would have ever, ever have found it without the rec. It's fantastically funny and the some of the racing details are pricelessly spot on.

I am only a little ways into so I am going back now to finish reading.

Yay! I think NASCAR is one of Celli's big loves, so I think that's why the details are like that.

See, I watched Jericho at the very beginning of the season, but didn't really click with it. And then I heard they offed Heather, who I really liked, and kept Emily, who I really dislike. If you say the show rocks that much, though, I will definitely try to catch the reruns over the summer.

Well, no one is admitting that Heather is dead. She might come back, or she might really be dead. I admit that Emily isn't as good a character as Heather, but she does have interesting moments.

It's uneven, but it does have some great points.
